Build One South Africa (BOSA) confirms that its leadership will attend the announcement of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination results for the Class of 2025 this evening.
Attending on behalf of BOSA will be Dr Mmusi Maimane MP, BOSA Leader, Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster MP, BOSA Deputy Leader, and Ayanda Allie MPL, BOSA Member of the Gauteng Legislature
Ahead of the announcement, BOSA supporters and activists will be picketing outside the venue, calling for the scrapping of the 30% pass mark for matric subjects and its replacement with a minimum 50% pass requirement.
BOSA wishes to remind South Africans that just last month the ANC, DA, FF+, PA and Al Jama-ah voted against BOSA’s motion in Parliament to end the 30% pass mark for matric subjects. By doing so, these parties sold out the future of South Africa’s young people, signalling that low standards and mediocrity are acceptable, setting millions up for a lifetime of unemployment.
The 30% pass mark is nothing more than Bantu Education in the modern era. It entrenches low expectations and masks systemic failure within the education system. By defending this standard, these parties chose to protect an illusion of success instead of confronting the deepening crisis in basic education.
Following the announcement, BOSA’s leadership will be available for media interviews to comment on the results and the urgent need to raise standards in South Africa’s education system.
