BUILD ONE SOUTH AFRICA WITH MMUSI MAIMANE

Do you want to directly elect the president in the next general election?

In South Africa, the President is currently elected by Members of Parliament, with the ruling party’s majority often determining the outcome. This system means that ordinary citizens do not directly choose the country’s leader. Instead, the party leadership selects a candidate, who is then endorsed by Parliament. By system where citizens directly elect the President, we would ensure that the leader of our country is directly accountable to the people, not just to party structures. This change would strengthen democracy by giving every South African a direct say in who governs the nation, making the President answerable directly to voters, and thereby increasing transparency, accountability, and trust in our political system.

Together, we can build a better, stronger and more representative South Africa for all.
