Deputy Leader Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster to lead BOSA picket outside Justice Minister’s event demanding release of the Sex Offenders Register

Tomorrow, Friday, 28 February 2025, is the deadline for Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, to fulfill her commitment to release the list of convicted sexual offenders as per her public promise to do so by the end of February.

Minister Kubayi is set to launch Human Rights Month by hosting a stakeholder engagement session with Civil Society Organisations at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto Campus.

Build One South Africa (BOSA) Deputy Leader, Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster MP, will stage a picket outside the Minister’s event to demand she hold to her commitment and release the National Register for Sexual Offenders (NRSO by close of business tomorrow.

For over two years, BOSA has campaigned for the NRSO to be made public—a call that has resonated with thousands of South Africans. Our petition, signed by nearly 20,000 citizens, reflects the urgency of ensuring communities are informed and protected from sexual predators.

Media are invited to cover the picket as we demand action from the Minister. Details are as follows:

  • Date:              Friday, 28 February 2025
  • Time:             09:00
  • Location:       University of Johannesburg (UJ) Soweto Campus
